Learn jiu jitsuwithout the crowd.
One-on-one coaching in gi and no-gi. No lineup, no waiting your turn, no getting folded up by a stranger with something to prove. Just the mat, the thing you're actually stuck on, and somebody watching every single rep.
First session is risk-free. If it’s not worth your time, you don’t pay for it.
60 minutes · gi or no-gi · beginners through competitors
Day one, you
will not:
- Roll with a 220-pound blue belt who's been waiting all week for a new person.
- Get shown nine techniques and remember exactly none of them.
- Do a single burpee. Not one.
- Be the only person in the room who doesn't know what's happening.
- Need a gi, a mouthguard, or two hundred dollars of gear you haven't decided you want yet.
You'll learn how to move, how to fall, and two positions you'll actually use. That's it. That's the whole first hour.
The four people
who book me
Never trained before
You want to start, but walking into a full class as the only person who doesn't know anything is a hard no. Learn the basics privately, then join a class already knowing how to move.
Stuck at a plateau
Blue or purple belt, been at it a while, keep hitting the same wall from the same position. We isolate the leak and drill it until it's gone.
Competing soon
You have a tournament on the calendar. We build a game plan around what you already do well, then pressure-test it before you step on.
Want it for the self-defense
Not interested in medals. You want to know what to do if someone grabs you or takes you down. That's a real curriculum and we can train it directly.
Same hour. Very
different hour.
A group class has its place. But if what you want is to actually get better at the specific stuff you're stuck on, here is what the two hours look like side by side.
Read the position · take the position · keep the position
How a session runs
Same shape every time so you always know what you're walking into. The content changes, the structure doesn't.
Warm up and check in
Ten minutes of movement, then we talk about what happened since last time: what worked in rounds, what fell apart, what you want out of today.
One position, taken apart
We work a single position or problem instead of five. Concept first, then the mechanics, then the details that make it work on someone who's resisting.
Drill it, then pressure it
Reps at low resistance until the movement is yours, then progressive resistance so you find out where it actually breaks. That's the part that transfers to live rounds.
Homework that isn't homework
You leave with two or three specific things to hunt for in class this week. Everything gets picked back up at the start of the next session.

One focused hour. No membership. No pressure.
Four systems,
one game
An active three-stripe purple belt offering focused supplemental coaching for beginners and developing grapplers. Most of what I teach came from training in four very different rooms, and I pull from all four instead of pretending one of them is the whole art. These days I'm on the mat in Temecula every week at my two home gyms, Carlson Gracie in the mornings and then Artemis Jiu Jitsu, so what I coach is what's working that same week.
-
Carlson GracieOld-school pressure and top game. Hard rooms, honest feedback, positions held until the other person gives them up.
-
Gracie BarraStructure and fundamentals. A real curriculum, taught in order, with the details that make a beginner's first six months not feel like guesswork.
-
10th PlanetNo-gi and the modern guard. Rubber guard, leg entanglements, and the parts of grappling that don't care what you're wearing.
-
Artemis Jiu JitsuNew attacks and sequences, High Ground among them, adding onto the guard game the other three built.

Where I sit on
the road to black
White to black takes most people about ten years. I'm three stripes into purple and still competing, which is close enough to remember every wall you're about to hit and far enough to walk you through it.
Still on the mat,
every week
I don't just teach it. I still compete and I still roll hard, gi and no-gi. What I show you is what I'm using against resisting people right now.

Competition experience across local gi and no-gi tournaments.

Straight from
the mat
★★★★★I wanted to try jiu jitsu for years but walking into a full class terrified me. Two private sessions in and I actually understood what was happening. By the time I joined a group class I wasn't the lost guy in the corner anymore.
Jordan R. · Temecula White belt
★★★★★I was getting my guard passed the same way for months and couldn't figure out why. Matt spotted the exact mistake in one session and drilled it with me until it was gone. It showed up in my rounds that same week.
Marcus T. · Murrieta Blue belt
★★★★★We built a game plan around what I already do well and pressure tested it before my tournament. I stepped on the mat calm because nothing was a surprise. Came home with gold in my division.
Diego S. · Winchester Competitor
★★★★★I came in mostly for the self defense side and got exactly that. No medals talk, no filler, just what to actually do if things go bad. I walk around a lot more relaxed now.
